I love swimming gear. Like a kid with a new toy, new swim gear reinvigorates swimming for me. It's just plain fun to jump in the water with a new swim cap, new googles or a new bathing suit.
New gear is obviously not necessary to enjoy open water swimming. However, new gear opens up a world of possibility, conjuring up new adventures, new swim spots, new challenges.
I love to remember where my gear has taken me, to far flung locales and local favorite swim spots. Like a favorite pair of running shoes, my swim gear has carried me in fresh water, salt water, and through miles of lap swimming.
Competitive swimmers collect swim caps from competitive swim events, rocking caps throughout the year, remembering past performances. Open Water swimmers collect sun bleached bathing suits, caps of various thickness to help with water temp differences, and goggles that have seen better days. Each swimmer collects memories, experiences, and adventures, a live well worth lived. Our gear just help facilitate this.
